We had a great time meeting with some of the local members of the I.D.E.A.S. student organization who came to tour the Bank. See the group posing with our CEO & Chairman, Ken LaRoe, while charging their all-electric Zero motorcycle at our charging station.

Ken's Fashion Tips for Men

I try to look as nice as possible without spending a fortune. It occurred to me the other day that I should share some of my thoughts with everyone. I personally think it is important for a banker to look professional but not too much like a “banker”. At least that is the ethos I would like to present from First Green Bank. We are the unbankers. We are creative. We are artistic. We are a little “edgy”. The main thing to remember though is to just be you. You will have colors and patterns that you just feel comfortable with or gravitate to but do try to push the envelope a little.

Here are the tips:

Keep your coat on as much as possible. It makes you look thinner and more professional.
Square toed shoes are out.
Go with a flashy tie but not a cheap, department store tie that you will see passing you on the street. A good option is retro ties from the 50’s or 60’s for $6 at a thrift store.
Thin ties are in.
Make a statement with your socks.
Stripes on stripes can work but it is difficult.
Dress in a manner that makes you comfortable. I mean in your head. If you think a current trend looks goofy then don’t wear it.
Thin is in. Form fitting. That is a problem for some but might serve as inspiration.
Pleats are out. Way out. You don’t have to throw your suits away though. Just have the pleats taken out. Men’s Warehouse will do it for something like $20.
Facial Hair – Don’t wear one of those goatee mustache combos. That is unless you want to look like every local driving a jacked up four wheel drive truck.
Hair – If you’ve got it flaunt it.
Shirts – Get them tailored to fit.
Shoes and belt colors should match.
Jewelry on men really only works in a casual setting but even then be careful.
Glasses can be an awesome fashion accessory.
